Stockholm, 18th February 2020: African Road Safety Network for NGOS, Experts and Institutes (ARSONEI), will use the platform of the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety to engage with African Ministers, road safety agency leaders, and the African Union to promote the African Agenda for Road Safety on the continent.
ARSONEI is a grouping of experienced Global Alliance NGOs based in Africa who collaborate on road safety with inter-country evidence-based projects, sharing individual expertise and knowledge.
By nurturing its vast skills and resources, ARSONEI is in a position to hold african government leaders accountable delivering the road Safety agenda.
ARSONEI intends to use the rare platform of the Road Safety Global conference to connect with all relevant stakeholders willing to improve the Road Safety status on the continent.
Martial Manfred Missimikim President of ARSONEI said :
Road traffic injuries are not seen as a priority in our countries, and Africa has 2% of the world’s cars but 16% of the world’s road deaths, and more than 300,000 people lose their lives in roadtraffic crashes in the region every year, while thousands more are injured.
NGOs are at the forefront of efforts in Africa to save lives on the roads—working with communities and government, leading projects and campaigns, and advocating for road safety policies.
We consider this conference as rare opportunity for Africans working in road safety to share our vast experiences and expectations, and support for the African governments and UN Agencies to achieve the global goals 2030.
We shall vigorously engage with all key stakeholders, to ensure powerful collaboration to save lives on the continent. We shall work positively with governments Agencies leading road safety as partners”.
The Conference is held in Sweden from 19–20 February 2020. The theme of the conference is Achieving Global Goals 2030. The event is co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), and minister-led delegations from more than 80 countries are expected to attend./End
